Story
I wish everybody could see.
In 2014, Wisdom was founded by Latif Yahya in Atlanta. It all started with a group of friends, artists, illustrators, and designers who became the brand’s billboard.
Wisdom developed into a fashion and design house, creating a niche in eyewear, streetwear and accessories. With its playful nature, Wisdom became known for its whimsical design, storytelling, and colorful shapes.
However stoic, Wisdom recaptures the childlike wonderment with the world of design, ultimately inspiring the confidence to color outside of the lines.
Today, Wisdom has spread globally from its social presence to collaborations with Nordstrom, Nike & SCAD. Wisdom will continue to tell Black American stories through design, art and product. “I wish everybody could see”

Wisdom partners with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) to bring eyewear design to the classroom. Latif Yahya launched a 10-week eyewear design course at SCAD, giving students the opportunity to learn how to develop, design, and build their own eyewear brands, from the initial concept all the way to market. As part of the program, students collaborated directly with Wisdom to create six original eyewear styles, using 3d printing, rendering, social campaigns and ai integration. translating their individual perspectives into fully realized designs. The collection was displayed and made available for purchase at the SCAD Bazaar Shop, giving students a rare opportunity to see their ideas move beyond the classroom and into the marketplace. Wisdom x SCAD is education through creation, teaching the next generation of designers not just how to imagine eyewear, but how to bring it to life.
Wisdom partners with NIKE for an eyewear collaboration created for TOMA street soccer and Atlanta’s world stage during the 2026 World Cup. Rooted in the movement of street football, Wisdom designed two distinct eyewear silhouettes inspired by the language of athletic wear, translating performance, speed, and sports culture into whimsical eyewear. Made for the soccer players and runners. The collaboration brings Wisdom’s unconventional design language together with NIKE’s legacy of sport innovation. Street soccer meets eyewear. Atlanta meets the world.
In 2026, Wisdom partners with Atlanta’s own FRKO, a multidisciplinary artist and illustrator known for his disco-modern aesthetic and vintage comic book-inspired artwork. We transform the classic Cyclops frame into a wearable piece of storytelling. The Wisdom x FRKO Cyclops features the phrase “FRKO IS CLOSER THAN HE APPEARS” inscribed directly onto the lens, a playful nod to the familiar warning found on a car’s rearview mirror. Blending FRKO’s graphic world with Wisdom’s whimsical approach to eyewear, the collaboration turns perspective and perception into design. Made in Atlanta, made for the kids who can see.

In 2025, Wisdom Eyewear expanded its retail presence with its debut at Shopbop, bringing Wisdom’s whimsical approach to eyewear to a new audience. For the launch, we introduced the Wisdom Frame 28 “Yellow Turtle,” our highest-selling frame and one of the most recognizable silhouettes in the Wisdom archive. Its bold yellow color and playful form embody Wisdom’s philosophy of designing eyewear with a sense of childlike wonder, made to be worn whimsically by the adults born kids.
The Wisdom Toy Store is a playful, designer retail installation built as a temporary 20-foot storefront inspired by the curiosity, imagination, and wonder of childhood. The space invites visitors to discover, try on, and shop Wisdom Eyewear through an immersive retail experience where design feels less like shopping and more like play. We made a classic bubble-plastic toy box designed to carry Wisdom Eyewear. The packaging intentionally embraces a familiar childhood visual language, not to reinvent the toy box, but to reconnect with the feeling of receiving a new favorite toy. Inspired by the excitement of unboxing toys at the Wisdom Toy Store turns that nostalgic moment into an experience for adults born kids. The installation transforms eyewear into something collectible, imaginative, and fun, bringing the spirit of childhood wonder into a contemporary retail environment.
The Wisdom Tooth Collection is a playful story about the growth that comes with gaining your wisdom teeth. Teeth become a symbol of growing up: wisdom teeth represent maturity and the knowledge that comes with age, while losing your baby teeth recalls childhood, the carefree years of scraped knees, falling down, getting back up, and learning through experience. Even pulling a tooth becomes a metaphor for growth: sometimes, when we become too stubborn or dogmatic, change has to be forcefully pulled from us. Wisdom Tooth was Latif Yahya’s first collection following the loss of his friend Brandon Resendiz, known as Chico. The collection transformed grief, growth, and the passage from childhood into a playful visual language inspired by the organic shapes of wisdom teeth. The collection introduced the Chrome Wisdom Frame 30, “Wisdom Tooth,” turning a familiar symbol of growing up into an object of design, remembrance, and playful self-expression.
YOU WASN’T OUTSIDE is a collaboration between Wisdom Eyewear & Allsumma, created in 2024. Latif Yahya teamed up with Ricks, Dash, and Shoke to tell a childhood tale, a story about four young boys whose summers were spent riding bikes, racing, playing hide-and-seek, and making trips to the corner store three times a day. Being outside was more than a phrase. It meant community, friendship, freedom, and exploration. It was a time when the neighborhood became our playground and every summer day felt endless. The Wisdom x Allsumma glasses are our gift to you. The lenses represent the sunset just before the streetlights came on, the moment when you knew it was almost time to go home. Your Wisdom Frames are proof that you was outside Allsumma.

Wisdom officially launched in Nordstrom. But more importantly, Wisdom went on tour.
Wisdom expands with the launch of our Rx Prescription Eyewear Collection, bringing the accessibility of prescription capabilities into the world of Wisdom eyewear. 2022 marked the biggest debut in Wisdom’s history: the launch of Wisdom Eyewear. I Wish Everybody Could See introduced Wisdom as more than a fashion brand. The Black American Collection, also known as BAMC, is a reimagining of Black American imagery in the United States and around the world. The collection asks a simple but powerful question: What would the world look like if Black American stories were autobiographical, told by us, through our own lens? BAMC explores identity, culture, history, and representation through the visual language of Black America, reframing familiar imagery and narratives into something uniquely our own. We wrapped the collection in the aesthetic of Major League Baseball’s Negro Leagues, drawing from the era’s uniforms, typography, colors, and spirit of self-celebration, when Black athletes built their own institutions in a world that tried to refused them access. The collection culminated in a full cut-and-sew runway presentation. Imagining a world where Black American stories are not footnotes to history, but the authors of it.
Wisdoms 2018 collection, “End Rape Culture,” originally started in 2016 was an unapologetic campaign that turned the T-shirt into a conversation starter, and a call to action. We used clothing as a platform to confront a taboo subject that affects the people who look like us and communities around the world. Rather than staying silent, Wisdom brought sexual assault into the public conversation, challenging the normalization, silence, and cultural conditions that allow rape culture to persist. “End Rape Culture” is a story that reflects us, our communities, and the realities we often avoid discussing. We believed fashion could do more than make a statement. It could create a moment, spark dialogue, and raise awareness.
Guerrilla Wisdom was Wisdoms 2017 collection, centered around the idea of guerrilla marketing, turning what we had into a moment. When Wisdom first started, we didn’t have the resources to rent billboards, buy major ad placements, or have celebrities wear our clothes. So we made our own billboards. We used our T-shirts, friends, and community as the advertising. The collection was led by our impromptu Guerrilla Wisdom fashion show at Lenox Mall, turning an everyday public space into our runway. Without a traditional venue, major production budget, or permission to create a spectacle, we created the moment ourselves. Guerrilla Wisdom is about making a moment out of little to nothing.
2016’s The Red Balloon embodies the childlike wonderment at the heart of Wisdom’s design language. For many kids, a red balloon is one of their first toys, and one of their first lessons in letting go. We hold onto it tightly, making it our favorite thing, until one day our grip slips and it floats away. In that simple moment, a kid experiences one of life’s earliest forms of loss. The Red Balloon is a reminder that life is a continuous practice of letting go. We hold onto people, places, ideas, identities, and things, but growth often begins when we learn to release them. The better we become at letting go, the more space we create to receive what comes next. The Red Balloon is an ode to the art of letting go. A symbol of childhood wonder, loss, and growth that comes with release.
Street Wisdom is Wisdom’s first collection, created by founder and designer Latif Yahya in 2014. It marks Latif’s first attempt at creating streetwear, an artistic experiment born from curiosity, and desire to simply compete and see if he could do it. Latif began his journey in graphic design at 16, teaching himself Photoshop and using it as his pencil. Growing up on Redan in Stone Mtn GA, he was surrounded by artists, rappers, painters, designers, and other creatives who were driven to tell their stories through what they made. That environment became the foundation for his own visual language. Street Wisdom reflects that upbringing. It captures the energy, imagination, and culture of Atlanta while documenting the beginning of Latif Yahya’s journey into fashion. What started as an experiment became the first expression of what Wisdom could be. Street Wisdom is where the streetwear journey begins.
